H.M. Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent : There have been allegations of vandalism of an under-construction house and destruction of crops in fields in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah, due to non-payment of dues. The incident took place in Padmadi village of Tribeni union of the upazila. The victim, Kamrul Hasan, has filed a general diary and written complaint with the police station regarding the incident.
According to the written complaint, Kamrul Hasan, son of Raihan Uddin of Jogipara village of Mirzapur union, had purchased 4.99 percent of the land at RS Khatian No. 205 and 231 in Padami Mouza No. 16 of the neighboring Tribeni union from the original owner at the price of Khos Kobla deed and had been occupying it through cultivation for a few years.
Since his home was far away, some local gang of extortionists demanded a ransom of 50,000 taka from him. They threatened to destroy the crops and kill him if he did not pay the ransom.
Unable to find a solution, Kamrul Hasan filed a general diary with Shailkupa Police Station on August 27, 2025. Diary No. 1341.
The extortionists became even more agitated after hearing the news of the general diary at the police station.
Later, when they were going to build a tin-slat house on the land for the purpose of living, on the afternoon of October 4, 2025, several members of the local extortion group, including Halim, Rubel, Mohir, Shahidul, Monirul, and others, came and demolished the under-construction house.
At that time, the landowner, Kamrul, and the construction workers were attacked, but they ran away for their lives.
The written complaint states that the crops on the land were later destroyed by spraying rotten chemicals.
Kamrul Hasan, who complained to the police station, said that he had bought 4.99 percent of land in Padmi Mouza after sifting through all kinds of documents. But unless he pays the local extortionists, they are not allowing him to cultivate and build houses there. He said that he is suffering from insecurity in his life.
