BM Report:
The Minister of Education of Bangladesh, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, met with the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, on Tuesday. The two officials discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in education between the two countries.
Cooke expressed interest in working with Bangladesh to improve vocational and technical education. Mr. Chowdhury proposed that the two countries cooperate in the areas of teacher training, curriculum development, and accreditation.
The officials also discussed the possibility of collaborating on university-level education. Chowdhury said that the government would be open to supporting joint degree programs between Bangladeshi and British universities.
The two officials also discussed the political situation in Bangladesh. Chowdhury reiterated the government’s commitment to working with all countries in the spirit of friendship and cooperation. He said that the destiny of Bangladesh would be determined by the people of Bangladesh and the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
Dr. Chowdhury also said that the government would not bow to any external pressure. He warned that the government would take strong action against any individuals who try to create instability in Bangladesh.
The meeting was seen as a positive step towards strengthening the education partnership between Bangladesh and the UK.
