Two power plants of Khulna Power are being closed due to non-effectiveness of PPA.

Two power plants of Khulna Power Company Limited listed in the capital market are being closed due to non-effectiveness of Power Purchase Agreement or Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

It is reported that Khulna Power’s Khulna KPC Unit 2-115 MW plant and Jessore’s Nowapara KPC 40 MW plant will be shut down. The power plants will remain closed due to the uncertainty of non-implementation of the PPA with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and no demand for electricity from BPDB in recent days.

Earlier in April this year, KPCL got permission from the government to extend the tenure of two power plants. Cabinet Purchase Committee approves purchase of electricity from two power plants of Khulna Power for 2 years on “No Electricity No Payment” basis. At the same time, BPDB verbally approved the commissioning of the two power plants. As a result, the operations of the two power plants started from the afternoon of March 24.

This information is known from the sources of Dhaka Stock Exchange.
