Today, March 6, is National Jute Day. Considering the background of independence and liberation war with jute, it was announced to celebrate this day nationally every year in 2016.
The day has been celebrated every year through various programs since 2017.
The Ministry of Textiles and Jute, the organization celebrating the day, says that although the use of artificial fibers (polythene) has increased over time, in the current era of sustainable development, there has been a huge demand for eco-friendly jute and jute products worldwide. In this context, with the aim of expanding the market for jute products and expanding the market, this day is celebrated nationwide with great enthusiasm by involving jute farmers, jute product manufacturers, entrepreneurs of multipurpose jute products, and users of jute products.
This year, discussions and a five-day-long multipurpose jute products fair and a 15-day-long textile fair have been organized to celebrate National Jute Day.
Sheikh Bashiruddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and the Ministry of Commerce, will be the chief guest at the inauguration of these programs on Thursday. The program will be held at the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) conference room in Manipuripara, Tejgaon.
In addition, the ministry has taken up various other programs across the country to mark the day.
