BM Desk: The two-day Bangladesh Cotton Summit 2025 ended on Sunday with urges for diversifying soucing of the fiber effectively.
At the ending ceremony, Chief Guest and Foreign Affairs Adviser Towhid Hossain said the government would provide all necessary suppprts to local spinners and cotton importers to explore direct sourcing opportunities in Africa, USA, Brazil and other cotton producing regions.
Mohamamd Ayub, adviser of the Bangladesh Cotton Association urged the government to help cotton importers for developing effective trade and storage facilities as Bangladesh is one of the largest cotton importing nations. Shawkot Aziz Russel, President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, said government need to facilitate cotton supply chain as Bangladesh export-oriented apparel industry consumes huge quantity of cotton while local production of cotton is very insignificant.
Brazilian ambassador in Dhaka Mr. Paulo Fernando Dias Feres, Argentine Ambassador Mr. Marcelo Carlos Sesa, spoke at the function also addressed by
Samiul Islam, President of the BCA and Nuruzzaman, the VP.
Traders, agents and exporters of cotton from Brazil, USA, Africa, Pakistan attended the two-day Dhaka cotton summit, where Indian suppliers found fewer this year compared to the lasts Summit.
