The first Indian ship carrying containers has reached Chittagong port under a transit agreement with Bangladesh. The Indian ship MV Senjuti anchored at New Mooring Container Terminal No. 1 in Chittagong Port on Tuesday afternoon.
Of the 221 containers brought on board, four containers are to be transported to Akartha, India via Agartala, India, using Bangladesh’s land route.
Through this, the implementation of the India-Bangladesh Agreement on the Use of Chittagong and Mongla Port for Movement of Goods from India started in 2016.
According to the Chittagong Port Authority, all charges including port dues and pilotage fees will be levied on Indian goods as per the port’s tariff schedule.
