B Mirror Report: Stocks today showed a mixed trading pattern as opportunistic investors targeted speculative and momentum-driven shares, while selling pressure in large-cap sectors limited overall market gains.
The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), remained unchanged at 5,299 points, closing flat compared to the previous session.
Although the market opened higher, activity on both sides of the trading floor prevented any clear direction, despite steady investor participation. Investors remained cautious amid domestic and global developments.
Market turnover declined by 16.3 percent to Tk 8.8 billion, down from Tk 10.6 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Engineering led turnover with 15.4 percent, followed by General Insurance (12.3 percent) and Textile (11.7 percent). Jute (5.3 percent), Tannery (1.7 percent), and Services (1.3 percent) posted gains, while Travel (-1.6 percent), Cement (-0.7 percent), and Textile (-0.5 percent) declined.
Of the 397 traded issues, 137 advanced, 193 declined, and 66 remained unchanged.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher, with the CSCX rising 22.9 points and the CASPI gaining 35.0 points.
