MD Desk : The index increased over the farewell week, which ran from July 13 to July 17, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the nation’s primary capital market. Consequently, within a week, the market capitalization of the DSE grew by Tk 10,759 crore.
This information was made public via the capital market’s weekly update report.
On the final working day of the farewell week, the market capitalization of the DSE was recorded at Tk 6,87,498 crore. In comparison, on the last working day of the preceding week, this figure was Tk 6,76,739 crore. This indicates that the DSE’s market capitalization rose by Tk 10,759 crore, reflecting an increase of 1.59 percent over the week.
All DSE indices also experienced growth during the last week. The primary price index, DSEX, saw an increase of 64.44 points, or 1.27 percent. Additionally, the DSE-30 index rose by 28.04 points, equating to a 1.47 percent increase. The DSES index also climbed by 18.84 points, which is a 1.71 percent rise.
In conjunction with the index growth, the trading volume on the DSE saw an uptick. The total transactions on the DSE for the week amounted to 3,408.12 crore taka, compared to 2,544.85 crore taka in the previous week. This marks an increase of 863.27 crore taka within just one week.
The average daily transactions per working day rose by 454.1 lakh taka, or 7.14 percent. During the current week, the average transactions on the DSE were 6,816.2 crore taka, while the average daily transactions for the previous week stood at 6,362.21 crore taka.
A total of 394 companies had their shares and mutual fund units traded on the DSE throughout the week. Among these, the prices of 290 companies increased, 80 saw a decrease, and the share prices of 24 companies remained stable.
