Mrinal Kanti Roy Tangail District Correspondent: On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku inaugurated the government’s program for selling protein-rich food items in Tangail. The sale of milk, eggs, and meat at subsidized prices officially began on Saturday, 21 February, at Shaheed Smriti Poura Udyan.
The program was inaugurated by Sultan Salauddin Tuku, State Minister for the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and Food.
The initiative was organized by the Department of Livestock Services and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and implemented by the Tangail District Livestock Office.
The government has taken this initiative to provide protein-rich food at affordable prices to low-income people during the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the program, the government plans to supply milk, eggs, meat, and fish to nearly one million families across the country, according to State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
As part of this initiative, the sale of milk, eggs, and meat at affordable prices began in Tangail during Ramadan.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by District Commissioner and District Magistrate Sharifa Haque.
Special guest at the event was Agriculturist Md. Shahjaman Khan Tuhin, Director of Artificial Insemination at the Department of Livestock Services.
Also present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjoy Kumar Mahanta, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Mia, Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, and former Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu.
According to the District Livestock Office, on the inaugural day, 200 kilograms of beef, 100 pieces of chicken, 2,000 eggs, and 200 liters of milk were sold at subsidized prices to low-income residents.
Low-income people stood in long queues with great interest and expressed their satisfaction at being able to purchase protein-rich food at affordable prices. The government’s initiative was widely appreciated by all.
