Sonali Bank Wins NBR ‘e-Return Champion Certificate’

Sonali Bank PLC won the e-Return Champion certificate from National Board of Revenue (NBR).

NBR honored Sonali Bank for its significant contribution to tax payment and good governance as the institution that filed the highest number of income tax returns by online in the 2024-25 tax year.

Among the five recognized organizations, Sonali Bank is the only bank to achieve this honor.

Sonali Bank PLC received the “e-Return Champion Certificate” at the “Bangladesh Single Window” event organized by NBR at a city hotel on 18 September, Thursday.

The chief guest of the event, Financial Advisor Dr. SalehUddin Ahmed handed over the certificate and crest to  Shawkat Ali Khan, MD & CEO of Sonali Bank.

The Chariman of NBR, Abdur  Rahman Khan presided over the program while
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin,
Special Envoy on International Affairs to the Chief Adviser, Lutfey Siddiqi and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury attended as special guest.

To earn the honor, MD & CEO of Sonali Bank, Md. Shawkat Ali Khan said that,
following NBR’s mandate in October 2024 for online tax return submissions by bank officials, Sonali Bank quickly launched a series of initiatives—online training for 3,500 employees, a dedicated helpdesk, video tutorials, and continuous monitoring—to ensure 100% online tax return submissions across all branches and offices,

He said, this achievement symbolizes our dedication to digital transformation and the success of our motto, “Good Governance Towards Progress.” As we move forward with “Unlocking New Horizons,” we remain committed to delivering better services to our depositors, customers, and stakeholders.
