B Mirror Report:Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam today directed concerned officials to complete all ongoing projects under the ministry within the specified deadlines.
The minister issued the instructions while meeting with ministry officials and heads of its subordinate departments and agencies at the ministry’s conference room, according to an official handout.
Newly appointed State Ministers for Shipping, Habibur Rashid and Md. Rajib Ahsan, were also present.
“No negligence in project implementation will be tolerated. Any delay in projects without legal complications or valid reasons will hold the responsible officials accountable,” Rabiul Alam said.
The minister emphasized that the quality of development projects funded by public money must meet proper standards.
Highlighting the importance of the shipping sector in the national economy, he said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has prioritized the modernization and improvement of the country’s shipping and railway services.
The government remains committed to ensuring safe and efficient water transport for passengers by introducing timely and exemplary reforms in the shipping sector, he added.
“We do not intend to establish an authoritarian system. Our goal is to serve the people faithfully, and protecting their interests is our foremost responsibility,” he said.
Rabiul Alam urged all ministry officials and employees to perform their duties with honesty and dedication, directing them to prepare an actionable plan for the next 180 days.
To ensure safe and smooth travel during the upcoming Eid journey, the minister instructed relevant authorities to take effective measures immediately, expressing confidence that, through collective efforts, this year’s Eid travel will be as comfortable as last year.
Shipping Secretary Dr. Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, along with senior officials and department heads, were also present at the meeting.
