The bank account of Shakib Al Hasan, the former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team and former member of parliament, has been frozen.
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has summoned all the bank account information of Shakib as well as his wife’s business to investigate manipulation and financial irregularities in the capital market.
Earlier on October 2, BFIU had summoned the bank accounts of Shakib and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir. After the investigation, all the bank accounts of Shakib were recently frozen (seized) on the government’s orders.
Shakib Al Hasan became a member of parliament with the nomination of Awami League from his district Magura in the 12th national parliament election held on January 7 this year. However, he has been out of the country since the fall of the Awami League government which collapsed in the face of the student movement.
