A. K. Azad, MP has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC in its 373rd Board meeting held on Wednesday, reads a press release.
In the same meeting, Mohammed Younus elected and Mohiuddin Ahmed re-elected as Vice-Chairmen respectively of the Board of Directors of the Bank.
The newly elected chairman Mr. Azad, MP is a prominent industrialist and successful businessman of the country who was born in 1959 in a noble Muslim family of Faridpur district.
Mr. Azad started his business after receiving his Honors degree in Applied Physics from University of Dhaka.
He has been actively involved in the jute, textile, tea, and ready-made garment industries for a long time, contributing significantly to the national economy and employment.
Mr. Azad is the Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group of Companies, Channel 24 Television and Dainik Samakal respectively.
Newly elected Vice-Chairman Mohammed Younus was born in a respectable Muslim family in Munshiganj District in 1958.
Renowned industrialist and businessman Mr. Younus has a long and creditable business experience of more than three decades and is engaged in Papers, IT, Insurance, Merchant Bank, Agro Sector, Fabrics and Cold Storages Trade Industry.
Mr. Younus is the Managing Director of various companies, including Sobhan Ice & Cold Storage Ltd., Younus Cold Storage Ltd., Ananta Paper Mills Ltd., Younus Paper Mills Ltd., Younus Spinning Mills Ltd., Sharif Cold Storage Ltd., Younus Newsprint Mills Ltd., Sonalinews.com, Fareast International University Board of Trustee, Galaxy Flying Academy Ltd.
Re-elected Vice-Chairman of the Bank Mohiuddin Ahmed was born in 1955 at Bangshal in the old city of Dhaka.
Mr. Ahmed, born in 1955, is a renowned businessman with over four decades of experience. He owns Rupsha Trading Corporation, Mohiuddin Auto House, Pacific Automobiles, Shahjalal Islami Bank Securities, and Islami Insurance Bangladesh Ltd. He is also a former Vice Chairman and Director of BCI.
