Afzal Karim, CEO and Managing Director of Sonali Bank Plc has been appointed as the Chairman of Padma Bank PLC, reads a press release on Wednesday.

He will serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Padma Bank until further instructions as per BRPD’s DA/2024-998 dated January 31, 2024 of Bangladesh Bank.

Afzal Karim also served as Managing Director of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation before joining Sonali Bank as CEO and Managing Director.

Prior to joining BHBFC, he was working as Deputy Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited.

Besides, he performed important duties of various departments and offices in Bangladesh Agricultural Bank as Deputy Managing Director and General Manager.
