Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has awarded scholarship to 350 SSC passed poor and meritorious students from different regions of the country. On 25th September 2024, the Cheque of the scholarship was officially awarded through a ceremony organized at the Corporate Head Office of the Bank. There were 40 (forty) scholarship students personally attended the program and received the scholarship money. The scholarship money of the remaining 310 scholarship students will be paid into their respective bank accounts within a short period time. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank Mr. A. K. Azad was present as the chief guest while the Director of the Bank & Chairman of the Bank Foundation Dr. Anwer Hossain Khan was present as Special guest at the scholarship awarding ceremony. The Managing Director of the Bank Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed presided over in the ceremony.
Among the 350 scholarship students, there are 165 Male students and 185 female students. A total of Tk. 1,92,50,000.00 (One Crore Ninety-two lac fifty thousand) scholarship will be given on monthly installment basis to 350 students, who passed the SSC examination in 2023 and currently studying at higher secondary level in various colleges in the country.
In the speech of Chief Guest Mr. A. K. Azad said that since 2006, Shahjalal Islami Bank has been providing scholarships to poor and talented students from different parts of the country. The Chairman of the Bank also urged people from all walks of life to come forward to ensure fair and quality education for everyone in the society.
The Chairman of Foundation Committee of the Bank Dr. Anwer Hossain Khan, expressed his hope that, all these achievements of the insolvent families would play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country along with improving the students by getting higher education.
The Managing Director of the Bank Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that this scholarship provided by Shahjalal Islami Bank is not only financial support to the talented students but also motivation, courage and encouragement. The recognition given by the bank to the meritorious students is in recognition of the hard work that the students from the disadvantaged groups of the society have achieved in the past years. We want them to concentrate on their studies with best enthusiasm in the future and work for the development of their own, family, society and above all the destiny of the country. Educated population is the main driving force of the country. He urged the scholarship students to become good people besides getting the certificate and use their talent for the welfare of the country.
