The undergraduate first year admission test of government 7 colleges affiliated to Dhaka University will no longer be under Dhaka University. This decision will be effective from the 2024-25 academic year.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the DU administration and the principals of the seven colleges in a meeting room adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor’s office of Dhaka University on Monday (January 27).
The meeting was held in a lounge adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor’s office of the university. In the meeting, the Dhaka University administration has already expressed its sincere regret over the unfortunate incident regarding the seven affiliated government colleges and has called on the students of Dhaka University and the seven affiliated government colleges to maintain patience, harmony and cordial relations.
The meeting discussed the overall issues and took the following decisions. They are-
1. A decision was taken regarding the honorable separation of seven government colleges affiliated with Dhaka University.
2. A decision was taken to change the previous decision regarding the admission process of students of seven government colleges affiliated with Dhaka University and bring it forward by one year and not to take admission under Dhaka University from this year i.e. from the academic year 2024-25.
3. The meeting strongly recommended that the activities of the next academic year from the 2024-25 academic year be conducted through an expert committee formed by the Ministry of Education on 29 December 2024 as per the demands of the students.
4. From the 2024-25 academic year, the expert committee formed by the Ministry will take decisions on all matters including determining the number of seats and admission fees as per the demands of the students.
5. The university administration will be responsible for the students who are currently under the ongoing educational programs of Dhaka University, so that their educational life is not affected in any way.
The meeting called on everyone to unite and play a responsible role from their respective positions to keep the educational programs running.
