Seminar held on ‘Role of Mass Media in Implementation of Smart Agriculture’

City Desk: A seminar titled ‘Role of Mass Media in Implementation of Smart Agriculture’ was held in the conference room of Agricultural Information Service in Khamarbari of the capital under the chairmanship of Director of Agricultural Information Service Dr Surjit Saha Roy.
Puravi Matin, Head of Culture and Communication of A2I, presented the main article in this seminar.
Rezaul Karim Siddique, presenter of Bangladesh Television’s agricultural development program ‘Soil and Man’ and Mir Masroor Zaman, journalist and news editor of Channel I, participated in the discussion on the main article.
Agriculture Ministry Secretary Wahida Akhtar was present as the chief guest of the seminar. He said through technologies used in smart agriculture, precision irrigation and demand-based specific plant nutrition, climate management and control in greenhouses, sensors and software platforms for soil, water, light, humidity, temperature management; Use of GPS, satellites, communication systems, mobile connectivity, robots, drones, etc., remote sensing and GIS technology to predict and control harmful insects and diseases, and the interconnection of these technologies to create networks and analysis and optimization platforms, i.e. Internet of Things Based on this, farmers can monitor their farm processes and make strategic decisions remotely. Not only this, smart market management is also an integral part of smart agriculture.
Among all the ways of this expansion of technology, mass media is the best way to spread technology in the shortest time, at the lowest cost and on a very large scale. Not only the extension of technology, media also play a role in building a balanced and stable agricultural system through systematic communication and dissemination of information among all parties in the agricultural sector, from producers to consumers. The involvement of the media in establishing an effective supply chain is the need of the hour.
By presenting and disseminating our glorious achievements in agriculture to the world, our media can contribute to generating interest in Bangladeshi agricultural products among consumers worldwide, positively changing attitudes towards agricultural products, creating markets and increasing demand. .
Badal Chandra Biswas, Director General of Agriculture Extension Department, was present as a special guest in the seminar.
Chief Information Officer of Agriculture Information Service BM Rashedul Alam presented the welcome speech. Senior officials of various departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, heads of various organizations and media representatives were also present at the seminar.
