Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, now visiting Turkey, on Friday stressed that accountability for the crimes against humanity perpetrated against the Rohingya people is an essential aspect in ensuring justice and the final resolution of the situation.
He promised that Bangladesh would continue to provide its unshakable support for the righteous cause of creating an independent Palestinian state following successive UN resolutions.
Hossain met with Karim A.A. Khan KC, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), on the fringes of the “Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025” to address the matter.
Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam, Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkiye and other senior officials from both sides attended the meeting.
Hossain expressed the deepest sympathy over the suffering of the people of Palestine in the recent aggression.
The meeting discussed all aspects of engagements between Bangladesh and ICC. The prosecutor of ICC lauded Bangladesh’s unwavering stance for the cause of the international justice system, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign adviser reaffirmed Bangladesh’s support for the ICC and the Rome Statute.
According to him, Bangladesh is interested in investigating concrete collaboration with ICC in the areas of expert, academic, and legal training and skill development. He expressed gratitude to the ICC for its position on the Gaza and Rohingya crises.
In the days ahead, both parties committed to raising the caliber of their current interactions even more.
