A remembrance meeting and doa mahfil were organized in honor of the late Nazrul Islam, the former Vice-Chancellor of Manarat International University (MIU). The event took place in the seminar hall of the university’s Gulshan campus on Saturday.
Sadeka Halim, the former dean of the Faculty of Sociology at Dhaka University and a member of the Board of Trustees of Manarat International University, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Abduch Chhabur Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor, presided over the function as the special guest, representing the Board of Trustees of Manarat International University, and Israt Jahan Nasreen, a member of the Bangladesh Women’s Association.
The program commenced with the welcoming speech delivered by University Registrar Moazzam Hossain, followed by prayers for the soul of the late Nazrul Islam.
In her address, Chief Guest Sadeka Halim fondly recalled the life and contributions of the late Nazrul Islam, highlighting his non-sectarian approach and genuine popularity as an educator. She emphasized his role as a beloved teacher and acknowledged his leadership among the faculty at Rajshahi University.
