The number of bank accounts in Bangladesh with deposits over Tk 1 crore has reached an all-time high, according to the latest report from the Bangladesh Bank.

As of June 2025, there are 127,336 millionaire accounts, up from 121,362 in March 2025—an increase of 5,974 accounts in just three months.

Deposit Growth:

Deposits in millionaire accounts rose from Tk 7.83 trillion to Tk 8.81 trillion

Total bank deposits grew by Tk 730.75 billion, reaching Tk 19.96 trillion in June

The total number of bank accounts also increased by 3.3 million, reaching 169 million.

From just 5 millionaire accounts in 1972, the number has steadily climbed, surpassing 127,000 in 2025, reflecting increased wealth, business growth, and financial inclusion.

Economists see this as a positive sign of economic progress, improved liquidity in the market, and greater public trust in the banking system.
