Pubali Bank Mastercard launch Bangladesh’s first offshore banking debit card

Pubali Bank PLC has partnered with Mastercard to launch Bangladesh’s first offshore banking debit card, targeting non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) and foreign nationals with offshore accounts.

The World Mastercard debit card is exclusively available to customers of Pubali Bank’s Offshore Banking Unit. It can be linked to offshore savings and current accounts held in US dollars and other approved foreign currencies, enabling e-commerce purchases, point-of-sale transactions and international payments.

The card is designed to offer greater flexibility in managing foreign-currency assets and meeting cross-border financial needs.

Cardholders will receive three complimentary international airport lounge visits annually, including one guest, through the LoungeKey programme. They will also be entitled to two complimentary annual visits to Dhaka’s Balaka Executive Lounge, with one accompanying guest, as well as unlimited access to domestic airport lounges throughout the year, with one guest permitted per visit.

Mohammad Ali, managing director of Pubali Bank PLC, said the bank was committed to strengthening its Offshore Banking Division with solutions tailored to the evolving needs of NRBs and international customers.

He said the card combines foreign-currency flexibility, convenient payment facilities and travel benefits to make offshore banking more accessible.

Zakia Sultana, country manager of Mastercard Bangladesh, said the launch reflected the company’s commitment to providing secure and convenient financial services across borders.

She added that the partnership brings together Mastercard’s global network, innovation capabilities and payment infrastructure to help cardholders manage their finances with greater ease and flexibility.
