Prof. Khairul takes charge as PKSF Chairman

Professor Dr. M. Khairul Hossain joined as the Chairman of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) on Thursday. The outgoing Chairman, Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, and senior officials of PKSF accorded a warm reception with a flower bouquet during the joining session at PKSF head office.

Dr. Hossain earlier served as a Professor of the Finance Department at the University of Dhaka, Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), and as Director to the Board of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

Engaged in teaching and research for nearly four decades, Dr. Khairul obtained his Masters in Economics and later his PhD from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE). He did post-doctoral research on the financial sector at A&M University in Texas.

Dr. Hossain was involved in nearly one hundred macroeconomic research studies covering a wide range of economic and social activities and also served as a consultant to various government, non-government, and international agencies, including the World Bank, ADB, CIDA, SIDA, NORAD, UNICEF, ESCAP, WFP, ILO, and IFC.

He also was a part of several background studies on the 3rd Five-Year Plan and 4th Five-Year Plan of the GoB and state-owned commercial banks and private banks.
