Police arrest Bengal Trading owner in Chittagong for defaulting on Tk 25 Crore Loan

Padma Bank extends loan to Bengal Trading, owner arrested

BM Desk:

Hasanur Rashid, the proprietor of Bengal Trading in Chittagong, was apprehended by Khatunganj police on Saturday, for reportedly failing to repay a Tk 25 crore loan obtained from Padma Bank’s Khatunganj branch.

The arrest was made in coordination with Padma Bank’s Recovery Task Force Team and Khatunganj branch officials. The loan default stems from Bengal Trading’s outstanding debt to Padma Bank.

A warrant for Rashid’s arrest was issued by the Chittagong Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge on November 30, 2022, following a case initiated by Padma Bank.
