Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inspected footpaths cleared of illegal occupation in the Mirpur-10 area of the capital and spoken directly with pedestrians about their experiences and the challenges they face while walking.
The prime minister visited the area on Saturday, according to his Press Secretary, AKM Nazmul Haque.
During the visit, Tarique Rahman asked pedestrians whether their movement had become easier following the eviction of hawkers from the footpaths and whether they were still facing difficulties while walking. He also sought their views on problems related to footpaths and road management in the city.
The prime minister listened to people’s experiences and opinions and instructed the authorities concerned to take necessary measures to ensure comfortable and unobstructed pedestrian movement.
He emphasised that footpaths are primarily meant for pedestrians and stressed the need to keep them free from encroachment, maintain discipline on roads and footpaths, and remove obstacles to public movement.
