Md. Abdul Based Panchagarh Correspondent: After a long fifteen years, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Tentulia Upazila biennial conference has been held. Upazila BNP convener Shahadat Hossain Ranju was elected president and Rezaul Karim Shahin was elected general secretary at the event. In addition, Md. Abu Bakkar Siddique Kabul and Md. Abu Sayeed Mia were elected to the organizational positions.
Meanwhile, around the biennial conference of Upazila BNP, various party leaders and activists erected festoons, colorful cloth flags and multiple towers on both sides of the road in Tentulia Upazila Sadar, and leaders and activists from all walks of life were in joy and happiness.
Today (Friday) The biennial conference of the Upazila BNP was organized on the grounds of the Tentulia Upazila Auditorium cum Community Center today, Friday. Upazila BNP convener Shahadat Hossain Ronju will preside over the conference while Panchagarh District BNP convener Jahirul Kachchu will inaugurate the conference. Barrister Nowshad Zamir, International Affairs Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was the chief guest, and Alhaj Farhad Hossain Azad, Rural Affairs Secretary and Member Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Panchagarh District BNP, was the keynote speaker.
The special guests at the event were Md. Abdul Khalek, Co-Organizing Secretary of the Central Executive Committee (Rangpur Division), Professor Md. Aminul Islam, Co-Organizing Secretary of the Central Executive Committee, and Adv. Rina Parveen, Member of the Central Executive Committee.
In the speech of the chief guest moderated by Upazila BNP Member Secretary Rezaul Karim Shahin, International Affairs Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Barrister Nowshad Jamir said that the last biennial conference of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Tentulia Upazila was held in 2009. After that, during the past 15 years, when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the Fascist Awami League government was in power, every time the district and upazila BNP took the decision to hold a biennial conference as a party, it was thwarted by the police/RAB forces supported by her. Thousands of cases were filed against party leaders and activists and they were arrested and put in jail. Many popular leaders and activists were kidnapped and murdered and kept in fear all over the country. Begum Khaleda Zia, the successful Prime Minister and Chairperson of BNP, was imprisoned in false cases. She was not even given the opportunity to go out of the country for treatment. Because Hasina knew that BNP is a democratic party of the soil and people, built by the advocate of multi-party democracy and the proclaimer of independence, the brave freedom fighter, martyr President Ziaur Rahman. If the leaders and workers of this party are energized after the conference, its power will not last long.
That is why BNP conferences were not allowed to be held throughout the country at that time. Under the direction of BNP Acting Chairman and youth pride leader Tarique Rahman, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam is organizing BNP conferences in the districts and upazilas as well as organizing party leaders and workers. In continuation of which, BNP conference is going to be held in Tentulia upazila. You will work shoulder to shoulder for BNP in the coming days.
