Over 600 people in Brahmanbaria received treatment with the help of Bashundhara Eye Hospital

With the support of Bashundhara Eye Hospital and the initiative of the Khakchail Fakir Memorial Foundation School authorities in Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila, more than six hundred people have been provided free eye treatment services. Patients were treated at the Fakir Memorial Foundation School in Khakchail village of Sadekpur Union in Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila from Tuesday (December 31) morning to afternoon. With the support of Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Vision Care Foundation, the founder of Fakir Memorial Foundation, former Vice Chancellor of Green University, Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, organized this service program.

A team of eight people led by Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute Senior Consultant Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Consultant Dr. Kazi Adnan and Camp Organizer Abu Tayyab provided medical services to the patients from 11 am to 4 pm. During this time, Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Founder CEO of Management and Skill Development Institute Dr. Sushil Kumar Sarkar, Headmaster of Fakir Memorial Foundation School Md. Abdun Noor and many others were present.

Ayesha Begum of Khakchail village, who came for treatment, said, “I have been seeing distant objects less for a year. It is very difficult to see. Sometimes it also hurts. I have seen doctors many times, but the problem has not gone away. A lot of money has also been spent. Today, a doctor from Dhaka came to our village school and gave me free treatment. Seeing my eye problem, he advised me to use chamosha.” Shamima Akhter said, “We are village people. Money is also needed to see a good doctor. Even though I have seen a doctor many times due to eye problems, the problem has not gone away. After getting information from people, I came to Bashundhara Eye Camp today to see an eye doctor. They did not take any money and gave me free medicines.” School students who received free treatment said, “All the students in our school who have eye problems have received free treatment. In addition, our guardians have also received treatment.

Dr. Md. Saiful Islam said, the names of more than four hundred patients were recorded in advance. By the afternoon, 40 patients were selected for cataract surgery. Many were given prescriptions as well as necessary medicines as primary treatment. Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute will operate on the selected patients free of cost. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, founder of Fakir Memorial Foundation, said, this is our initiative to make the common people of the village aware about I-Sight. This program, which has been going on for the past few years, will continue in the future.

He expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Group for providing free eye treatment and medicines to the common people of remote villages.
