Sherpur Correspondent: A total of 161,432 children across five upazilas in Sherpur will be vaccinated under a Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign set to run from April 20 to May 10.
The announcement was made by Civil Surgeon Dr. Muhammad Shahin at a press briefing held at the Sherpur Press Club on Wednesday (April 16). The campaign will be carried out through 1,335 vaccination centers with the support of 191 vaccinators.
Health officials reported that 82 suspected measles cases have been identified in the district so far. Among them, samples from 74 individuals have been sent to Dhaka for testing. However, no confirmed positive cases have been detected yet. At present, 25 suspected patients are receiving treatment at the district hospital.
Dr. Shahin stated that all children aged between 6 months and under 5 years will receive a single dose of the MR vaccine during the campaign. This includes children from 180 days to 4 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Even those who have previously been vaccinated will be included.
The briefing was conducted by Medical Officer Dr. Ahsan Habib Himel and attended by local press club leaders and journalists from various media outlets.
