Bangladesh Trade Bodies Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

BM Report

Six major trade bodies in Bangladesh have issued a joint statement condemning the ongoing violence in Gaza and calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICCB), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) expressed their deep concern over the loss of lives and destruction of infrastructure in Gaza.

The trade bodies highlighted the targeting of civilians, including children and women, by Israeli forces, emphasizing that such actions violate international humanitarian law. They also condemned the use of starvation as a weapon of war and the targeting of hospitals, schools, and other civilian infrastructure.

In their statement, the trade bodies urged the international community to take immediate action to protect civilians and bring an end to the violence. They specifically called for an immediate ceasefire and a resolution to the long-standing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

The trade bodies also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, sovereignty, and independence. They called for a peaceful solution to the conflict that respects the rights of all parties involved.

The joint statement from the Bangladesh trade bodies is a significant step in raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and calling for international action to end the violence. Their condemnation of the targeting of civilians and their call for a ceasefire are clear messages that the world must not stand idly by while innocent lives are lost.
