Panchagarh Correspondent: While preparing to rob the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank branch in Bhajanpur Union of Tentulia, Panchagarh, a young man named Shahidul Haque (28) was arrested along with robbery tools by the locals and handed over to the police. He is the son of Shukru Mohammad of Sarapigach village of Bhajanpur Union.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, on Wednesday (August 27), the bank’s night guard Anis went downstairs for dinner. After a while, he suddenly saw lights and heard a sound inside the bank. When he became suspicious, he informed the bank manager and locals. Later, with the help of locals, they entered the bank and arrested the young man. At that time, robbery tools were recovered from a bag he was carrying. At the same time, signs of an attempted robbery were found in the bank’s vault. Upon receiving the information, Tentulia Model Police Station went to the scene and brought the arrested young man to the police station.
Local UP member Tabibur Rahman said, the arrested youth serves in the army and is a good boy from a poor family. He came home on leave. It is difficult to say exactly how he entered the bank to rob it. However, it is believed that he had been hiding in the bank beforehand.
Bhajanpur Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKAB) Branch Manager Md. Nuruzzaman said, “After finishing the office work, everyone except the night guard went home. The night guard informed me about the matter at about 8:30 pm. I then came to the spot from Panchagarh house and informed the higher authorities and the police station about the matter. I have filed a written complaint against the accused youth in this regard at Tentulia Police Station.”
In this regard, Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Musa Mia said, the scene has been inspected. The bank manager has filed a written complaint as the plaintiff. Preparations are underway to take necessary legal action including preliminary interrogation of the accused.
