No growth without happy farmers, says PM

B Mirror Report: Prime Minister Tarek Rahman has said that overall national development is not possible unless farmers can smile. He made the remarks on Tuesday (March 17) at a review meeting on the ‘Farmer Card’ held at the Secretariat.

The Prime Minister said, “Agriculture is the main driving force of Bangladesh’s economy. The primary objective of introducing the Farmer Card is to ensure that genuine farmers can directly receive fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and government financial assistance without harassment from middlemen.”

Despite the public holiday on the holy night of Shab-e-Qadr, the Prime Minister attended office. He arrived at the Secretariat around 11:00 am, where a meeting was held to review the latest progress of the committee formed to implement the Farmer Card.

On the same day, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan met with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat.

After the meeting, DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam said that the Prime Minister is very serious about Dhaka city. He always wants to stay informed about what work is being done, what remains pending, and what needs to be done.

Prime Minister Tarek Rahman has also instructed the two Dhaka city corporations to work towards making the capital a clean metropolis.
