Ctg Correspondent

Bangladesh Police has introduced two patrol van for police at Sajek Valley following repeated attack on tourist at the popular tour site in the hilly part of the country, The van were have been handed over to Sajek Valley Police Camp and Baghaihat Police Camp to enhance patrolling and escort activities for the safety of tourists in Sajek Valley.

Sajekvalley has become a huge potential for tourism in Bangladesh. If used, it can be Darjeeling of Bangladesh. But there are many problems in the formation of tourist zones. Despite the development of road connectivity, the problem of electricity, water and security measures remains prominent.

Lack of emergency medical care. There are also security issues, although adequate security arrangements are in place, police say. A few years ago, miscreants torched a tourist car. However, even in such a situation, the region has already gained wide recognition at home and abroad.

A lot of people are going to visit from different parts of the country. But due to strict access to the mountainous areas, foreigners do not want to cross even if they want to. Talking to people related to tourism, sources said.

The location of Sajekvalley, a vast hilly land adjacent to the border of Mizoram state in India, is in the Sajek union of Baghaichhari upazila in the hilly district of Rangamati, Bangladesh. The distance from the upazila headquarters is about 80 km.

It is now an area of immense potential for tourism. Many local entrepreneurs including BGB’s Marishya Zone have set up several resorts for tourists to spend their vacations in Saje. A good quality resort has been built by the Rangamati Hill District Council.

At present, about 80-100 resorts or cottages have been built in Saje, small and big, according to the concerned people.

Talking to several local tourism businessmen, they highlighted various problems related to tourism business. Prominent among these problems are water, electricity, medical and fire service stations. Sajek Cottage Owners Association general secretary Anir Tripura, cottage owner Zakaria Pankhowa and Sajek Sealdah Mauza headman Jaipithang Tripura said that road connectivity has been developed.

So anyone can directly go to Sajek from any part of Bangladesh. Currently there are no major security issues, although every now and then a few miscreants try to do something untoward. Army, police, BGB patrols are strong day and night. But the problem of electricity and water is acute. Electricity connection is fine but no supply. Sajek is without electricity most of the time.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid handed over two new vehicles to Sajek Valley Police Camp and Baghaihat Police Camp, including one from the district police and one from the Sajek Resort Owners Association on Saturday (January 13).

Baghaihat Senazone Deputy Commander Major Faisal Amir Mohammad Tarek, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Baghaichhari Circle) Abdul Awal Chowdhury, Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan Khan, Dighinala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nurul Haques and leaders of Sajek Resort Owners Association were present.
