Bangladesh Bank has decided the date of monetary policy announcement for the new financial year.

It is known that a preliminary decision has been taken to announce the monetary policy on July 18.

According to sources, the six-month monetary policy for the first half of the current fiscal year 2024-25 will be announced next Thursday (July 18). It will be passed in the board meeting of Bangladesh Bank on July 16. Before that, the main committee meeting regarding monetary policy announcement will be held on July 14.

Bangladesh Bank will hold a meeting with representatives of economists, businessmen, research organizations and journalists on Wednesday.

Earlier, during the monetary policy announcement for the second half (January-June) of the fiscal year 2023-2024 on January 17, the policy rate was increased by 25 percent to 8 percent. Earlier the policy rate was 7.75 percent.

This monetary policy was supposed to reduce the supply of money. But despite the reduction of some amount of cash, the inflation did not decrease but increased.
