National Pay Scale 2026 gazette to be issued this week

The government is set to issue gazettes related to the National Pay Scale 2026 within this week following its approval, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani said on Monday.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on August 31, the Cabinet Secretary said multiple gazettes, rather than a single notification, would be issued regarding the new pay scale.

Asked when the gazette for the new pay scale would be published, Nasimul Gani said, “It will be done this week, InshaAllah. There will be several gazettes, not just one.”

He said some provisions related to the implementation of the National Pay Scale 2026 would also be issued in the form of Statutory Regulatory Orders (SROs) after completing legal vetting.

Nasimul Gani noted that the last national pay scale was introduced in 2015. Since then, government employees have been waiting for a new pay structure for nearly 12 years.

Detailed provisions on salaries, allowances and pensions

The Cabinet Secretary said the Finance Division would issue the necessary notifications, orders and instructions to implement the National Pay Scale 2026.

These instructions will contain detailed provisions on the process of fixing new salaries, different types of allowances, pensions and other post-retirement benefits.

Relevant ministries, divisions, directorates, offices and agencies will also be instructed to take the necessary measures to ensure proper implementation of the approved pay structure.

Following the Cabinet’s approval of the National Pay Scale 2026, the formal implementation process is now expected to begin with the issuance of multiple gazettes, orders and necessary SROs.
