B Mirror Report: The second session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, which will serve as the first budget session of the new government, is set to begin on Sunday (June 7) at 3:00 pm.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin has summoned the session under Article 72(1) of the Constitution, according to the National Parliament Secretariat.
The parliament secretariat said all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the smooth conduct of the session, which will be held in the parliament chamber at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
The upcoming session is expected to focus primarily on the presentation, discussion, and passage of the national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The budget will outline the government’s development priorities and economic plans for the new fiscal year.
A notification regarding the session was issued earlier on May 7, signed by Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan.
Budget sessions are traditionally held in June each year to facilitate parliamentary debate on the national budget. Members of Parliament are expected to take part in detailed discussions on the proposed fiscal measures and development agenda.
The first session of the 13th Parliament began on March 12 and concluded on April 30.
