B Mirror Desk : The government has rebranded 27 primary schools that were named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her relatives over the last 15 years. A notification outlining these changes, signed by Rebeka Sultana, Deputy Secretary (School-2) of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, was released on the ministry’s website on Sunday. According to the notification, the renaming of the schools aligns with the ‘Government Primary School Naming and Existing Name Change Policy-2023’.
For instance, Bangabandhu Government Primary School in Sutrapur, Dhaka has been renamed Karkunbari Government Primary School, while Mohammadpur’s Bangabandhu Government Primary School is now Tajmahal Government Primary School. Additionally, the 16 No. Bangabandhu Government Primary School in Sadar, Naryanganj has been renamed 16 No. Paikpara Paschim Government Primary School, and Panchbaria Hasina Wajed Government Primary School in Pangsha, Rajbari is now simply Panchbaria Government Primary School.
Furthermore, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University Government Primary School in Sadar, Gazipur has been changed to Gazipur Agricultural University Government Primary School. Other notable changes include Char Sathraj Sheikh Russel Government Primary School in Bakerganj, Barishal, which is now Char Sathraj Government Primary School, and Pashim Pirojpur Bangabandhu Government Primary School in Sadar, Pirojpur, which has been renamed Pashim Pirojpur Government Primary School. The Sheikh Russel Government Primary School in Dhamairhat, Naogaon is now Jagathnagar Government Primary School, and the Sheikh Russel Government Primary School in Patnitola, Naogaon has been renamed Nadour Government Primary School.
