Mymensingh Correspondent: Mymensingh celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on Thursday with a rally, discussion meeting, tree plantation campaign, and prize distribution under the theme, “Climate Change: Today’s Action, Tomorrow’s Security.”
The programme, organized by the Department of Environment, began with a colorful rally in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office before a discussion session at the Mymensingh Zila Parishad conference hall.
Divisional Commissioner S.M. Humayun Kabir Sarkar attended as chief guest and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to prevent environmental pollution. Special guests included Mymensingh Range DIG Ataul Kibria, Bangladesh Agricultural University’s Prof. Dr. Murad Ahmed Faruk, and NAPE Director General Farid Ahmed.
The discussion was chaired by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Saifur Rahman, who stressed that the younger generation would play a key role in protecting the environment. Department of Environment Director Nazmul Huda delivered the welcome address.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes among students, attended by representatives from government agencies, media organizations, and other stakeholders.
