Mrinal Tangail Correspondent: A mosquito eradication and cleaning initiative has been implemented at Tangail District Jail. On the morning of Tuesday, July 8, Jail Superintendent Md. Shahidul Islam officially launched the program both inside and outside the district jail. During the inauguration, the Jail Superintendent remarked,
Following the directives of the Inspector General, various mosquito eradication efforts have been initiated in district jails nationwide in response to the rise of several mosquito-borne illnesses, including dengue and chikungunya. In line with this initiative, and with the support of Tangail Municipality, inmates, prison staff, local school and college students, and other stakeholders actively participated in the program. Fogger machines are utilized to exterminate mosquitoes, while hoes and scissors are employed to clear bushes, and spades are used for cleaning drains and sewers.
Efforts are also underway to remove debris from waterlogged areas. Local youth contributed by assisting in the cleanup of the prison’s outer courtyard. Approximately one hundred individuals took part in this endeavor. Present at the event were District Magistrate Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Deputy District Magistrate Md. Masud Parvez Rubel, Assistant Surgeon Dr. Md. Abibur Rahman, among others.
