On the first day of the nationwide ‘total non-cooperation’ movement, the government has ordered the shutdown of mobile internet in the context of widespread protests and violence.
Mobile operator companies have confirmed that they have been ordered to down mobile networks from 1pm on Sunday (04 August).
A top official of a mobile phone operator said that the instructions to stop the 4G service have come to them.
He said that social media including Facebook-WhatsApp cannot be used on mobile internet as the 4G service is closed.
