The country’s capital market witnessed mixed trading this week. The market capitalization of the country’s main capital market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by Tk 1,637 crore in the past week. However, the volume of transactions decreased. This information was revealed in the DSE’s weekly update report.
According to the data, the market capitalization of the DSE increased by 24.02 percent or Tk 1,637 crore in the past week. On the last working day of this week, the market capitalization of the DSE stood at Tk 6,64,356 crore. On the last working day of the previous week, this capital was Tk 6,62,719 crore.
This week, the main price index of the DSE, the DSEX, fell by 4.99 points or 1.10 percent. In addition, the DSE-30 index fell by 2.82 points or 1.15 percent. And the DSES index increased by 15.33 points or 1.33 percent.
Along with the index, the volume of transactions on the DSE also decreased. The total transactions on the DSE during the week were 1,906.56 crore taka. The total transactions in the previous week were 2,329.2 crore taka. Transactions decreased by 422.46 crore taka in a week.
Meanwhile, the average transaction per working day decreased by 844.9 crore taka or 18.14 percent. The average transaction on the DSE per working day this week was 3,813.1 crore taka. The average daily transaction in the previous week was 4,658.0 crore taka.
