B Mirror Report: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has inherited shares worth approximately Tk 180 crore from her late mother, according to disclosures made through the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
The transfer follows the death of Hurun Nahar Rashid on March 1, the wife of Mannu Group founder and former minister Harunur Rashid Khan Monno. In line with inheritance procedures, her shareholdings have now been formally transferred to her daughter.
According to information published on the DSE website, the transferred shares include holdings in three listed companies under the Mannu Group: Mannu Agro & General Machinery Ltd, Mannu Ceramic Industries Ltd, and Mannu Fabrics Ltd.
Each of these companies has separately notified regulators and investors, confirming the transfer of ownership. As a result, significant share control in these firms now rests with the minister.
Before entering public office, Afroza Khanam served as chairperson of Mannu Group and its affiliated companies, where she played a key role in business expansion and dividend policy decisions.
After joining the current BNP-led government, she formally stepped down from all corporate and administrative roles. Due to her political responsibilities, the inherited shares are now held as part of her personal investment portfolio.
