Md Harun-Ar-Rashid has been appointed as the new Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), taking over from M Khurshid Hossain, who recently retired. The transition was formalized through a gazette notification issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 29.
Md Harun-Ar-Rashid began his career as an assistant superintendent of police with the 15th BCS batch in 1995. Over the years, he has held various significant positions, including serving as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Mymensingh range in 2019.
Born to Ahmed Ali, Harun-Ar-Rashid holds an MSc degree from Dhaka University’s Statistics Department, which he obtained in 1994. He furthered his education with an LLB from the University of London in 2009 and an MBA from Dhaka University in 2016.
