Settlement of Two Marine Cargo Insurance Claims of Max Group Affected by Fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Cargo Village.
Two marine cargo insurance claims of Max Group, which were affected by a fire incident at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on October 18, 2025, have been settled.
The Chief Executive Officer of Desh General Insurance Company Limited, Mohammadi Khanam, has paid the two marine cargo insurance claims of Max Group. These claims were related to losses suffered by the insured due to the fire that occurred on October 18, 2025, at the airport’s Cargo Village. The total compensation amounted to Tk 1,634,276.00, calculated as Tk 626,076 plus Tk 1,008,200.
Desh General Insurance Company Limited took prompt action immediately after the claims were submitted, and the payments were made upon receipt of all necessary documents and survey reports.
Placing the highest priority on customer interests, Desh General Insurance Company Limited has been regularly settling insurance claims. As part of this ongoing effort, from January to December 2025, the company paid approximately Tk 18,161,094 in claims across various categories.
The settled claims included fire insurance, motor insurance, marine insurance, and other non-life insurance claims. Through timely and transparent claim settlement processes, Desh General Insurance Company Limited has further strengthened customer trust and confidence.
On February 1, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of Desh General Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Mohammadi Khanam, formally handed over the cheques for the two marine cargo insurance claims to Mr. Md. Mahmud Hossain, DGM (Corporate Finance) of Max Group.
Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Md. Ziaul Haque, Head of the Claims and Reinsurance Department of Desh General Insurance Company Limited, and from Max Group, Chief Financing Officer Mr. Md. Shahidul Islam Khan, Mr. Khaled Bin Hossain, DGM (Technical), and Engineer Rahad Ahmed Ruman, Assistant Manager, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of Desh General Insurance Company Limited, Mohammadi Khanam, said:
