In the past week (December 15 to December 19), the country’s capital market witnessed a rise in the index. As a result, the market capitalization of the country’s main capital market, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by Tk 6,709 crore in the past week. However, the volume of transactions decreased during the period under discussion.
According to the information, the market capitalization of the DSE stood at Tk 6,59,205 crore on the last working day of the current week. On the last working day of the previous week, this capital was Tk 6,52,496 crore. That is, the market capitalization of the DSE increased by 1.03 percent or Tk 6,709 crore in the past week.
This week, the main price index of the DSE, DSEX, increased by 116.14 points or 2.27 percent. In addition, the DSE-30 index increased by 56.4 points or 3 percent. And the DSES index increased by 27.31 points or 2.40 percent.
Despite the increase in market capitalization and index, the volume of transactions on the DSE decreased. The total transactions on the DSE during the week were 1,492.29 crore taka. The total transactions in the previous week were 1,610.92 crore taka. The transactions decreased by 1,186.3 crore taka in a week.
Meanwhile, the average transaction on the DSE on each working day of the current week was 3,730.07 crore taka. The average daily transaction in the previous week was 3,221.8 crore taka.
Shares and mutual fund units of 397 companies were traded on the DSE during the week. Of these, the prices of 172 companies increased, 168 companies decreased and the share prices of 57 companies remained unchanged.
