B.Mirror Desk: The LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh (LOAB) has issued strict instructions to all member companies, distributors, dealers, and retailers to ensure the sale of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) strictly at prices fixed by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
The association warned that selling LPG cylinders above the BERC-determined rates or hoarding them illegally will be treated as a clear violation of existing laws, and punitive action will be taken against violators by the government.
The directive follows a discussion on LPG supply and pricing held on September 28, 2026, at the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, chaired by the Honorable Minister.
During the meeting, it was disclosed that the country’s LPG import situation remains satisfactory. Bangladesh imported 1.56 lakh metric tons (MT) of LPG in September, matching the 1.56 lakh MT imported in August. According to LOAB, this supply is sufficient to meet national demand, leaving no scope for creating artificial market shortages.
Furthermore, in an online meeting on September 30, the Energy Minister strictly instructed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the country to monitor local markets.
LOAB President Mohammad Amirul Huq stated that the association will extend full, round-the-clock cooperation to administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies to protect consumer rights and maintain market stability.
