LGED CReLIC Concludes Gender & Climate Training

A three-day training program titled “Gender and Climate Change,” organized by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) concluded today at the training room of LGED Headquarters. The training ran from December 28 to December 30, 2025.

Syeda Asma Khatun Additional Chief Engineer of LGED and Director of CReLIC attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, where she delivered the concluding remarks and distributed certificates among the participants. Syed Shafiqul Islam Additional Chief Engineer (Current Charge – Training Unit), and Md. Latif Hossain, Executive Engineer of CReLIC were also present at the event.

In her address to the trainees Syeda Asma Khatun expressed her sincere thanks to everyone involved for successfully completing the three-day program. She stated:
“This training is a practical example of how crucial gender sensitivity is in tackling the impacts of climate change. The adverse effects of climate change fall disproportionately on women, children, and marginalized communities. Therefore, it is essential to integrate a gender perspective into planning, implementation, and policy-making.”

Earlier in his welcome speech Syed Shafiqul Islam remarked that LGED has always been committed to gender equality and inclusive development in local infrastructure and climate-resilient projects. He noted that this initiative by CReLIC to enhance knowledge and skills is a reflection of that commitment.

The training sessions were conducted by LGED’s Additional Chief Engineers, Project Directors, Executive Engineers, and specialized consultants. A total of 30 Senior Assistant Engineers and Assistant Engineers from LGED participated in the program.
The event was also attended by Training Specialist Md. Abul Kashem and Media and Communication Specialist Syed Mahbub Ahsan.
