Letter to Governor to dissolve SIBL board.

The ousted directors have written to Bangladesh Bank demanding dissolution of the board of directors of Social Islami Bank (SIBL), which took control of S Alam Group. Today (August 18) the new governor of Bangladesh Bank has sent this letter to Ahsan H Mansoor. They requested to take quick action to restore people’s confidence in the bank.

Earlier, on Thursday, Islami Bank officials and employees wrote to deregulate S Alam Group and dissolve the board. In the letter sent to the governor by the entrepreneurs of the bank, various pictures of the bank have been presented. It was signed by the chairman Major (Retd.) Dr. who was forced out in 2017. Rezaul Haque, chairman of the executive committee at that time. Anisul Haque and then chairman of the audit committee. Abdur Rahman.

It is known that S Alam Group took over two banks in 2017 with some dishonest officials of Bangladesh Bank and related political support. Also, the control of First Security Islami, Global Islami, Union, Bangladesh Commerce and NBL passed into the hands of the group. Apart from these banks, the group has taken a huge amount of loan from various banks anonymously.

According to SIBL sources, as the bank is still controlled by the Salam Group, depositors are withdrawing a lot of money out of fear. As a customer is banned from withdrawing more than Tk 3 lakh per day, most of them come to the bank and take pay orders. Various branches of the bank have issued pay orders of 8 crore 17 lakh taka from morning till 1 pm.
