AHM Shafiquzzaman, secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, paid a visit to the Ha-Meem Group subsidiary Creative Collection Limited’s factory in Gazipur’s Tongi neighborhood. The secretary visited a number of plant activities last Thursday (please attach the date if it is significant) and assessed the status of the worker welfare programs.
The primary goal of the visit was to assess the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition’s (GAIN) “Swapn” project’s progress. During this visit, the secretary heard the experiences of 100 trained “Nutrition Friends” (worker representatives) and shared opinions with the Nutrition Development Committee, which was made up of employers, officials, and employees.
The ‘Swapn’ initiative serves as a model for safeguarding the health and nutrition of workers. Our workforce is essential to the nation’s economy. It is crucial to extend such programs to other industrial sectors to guarantee their nutritional needs.
During the visit, the Secretary toured the fair price shop set up with GAIN’s technical support at the factory. Here, workers can access nutritious and safe food at reasonable prices.
GAIN’s Country Director stated, “Through the Swapn initiative, we are dedicated to supplying nutritious food to workers, enhancing health awareness, and fostering a nutrition-friendly workplace environment. The project will be further developed with government backing.”
Ha-Meem Group’s Zonal Executive Director, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Mohammad Taufiqur Ahmed Chowdhury, remarked, “Prioritizing the welfare and health of workers is one of our main goals. With the ‘Swapn’ initiative, we have successfully addressed the nutritional requirements of our workforce. We aim to implement this in other divisions of the group as well.”
