BMirror Desk:

In a meeting between Kyrgyz Republic officials and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F. Rahman, Kyrgyzstan on Monday expressed its interest in tapping into Bangladesh’s skilled labor pool to bolster its economic activities.

Avazhbek Atakhanov, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyz Republic, highlighted the desire to enhance economic relations and explore opportunities in various sectors, including the ready-made clothing industry and education.

Salman F Rahman MP emphasized the potential for collaboration in multiple sectors, underscoring the existing presence of Bangladeshi medical students in Kyrgyzstan and the prospect of increased student exchanges. Furthermore, both countries identified agriculture and technology as areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan’s recent strides in capacity-building, particularly in collaboration with the European Union during the Covid-19 pandemic, have positioned the country to export garments to the EU. Atakhanov expressed interest in partnering with Bangladesh to jointly export clothing to the European market.

The Kyrgyz delegation commended Bangladesh’s socio-economic progress and revealed Kyrgyz Prime Minister’s intention to visit Bangladesh. Additionally, there was expressed interest in recruiting Bangladeshi workers for production-oriented industries in Kyrgyzstan, reflecting a growing partnership between the two nations.
