Krishi Bank employees hold protest seeking new pay scale

To demand the immediate implementation of the newly proposed pay scale of the National Pay Commission, a protest and rally were held in front of the head office of Bangladesh Krishi Bank at 11:00 a.m. on February 3, 2026. The programme was organized by the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees’ Union (B-985) CBA in line with the announced schedule of the Bangladesh Government Employees’ Coordination Council.

The rally was joined in solidarity by Md. Zahid Hossain, Chief Coordinator of the Nationalist Forum; Syed Liaquat Hossain, respected convener of the Officers’ Welfare Association; and Taslima Akhter Lina, President of the Women’s Forum.

The gathering was presided over by Md. Yunus Ali, Vice President of the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees’ Union (B-985) CBA, while the General Secretary of the CBA, Md. Miraj Hossain, conducted the proceedings.

Speakers at the rally stated that although the previous government had promised to adjust the pay scale in line with market prices, the commitment was never fulfilled. They pointed out that over the past 11 years, the salary structure of government employees had not been revised in accordance with inflation. As a result, while commodity prices have risen sharply, government employees have been deprived of their rightful benefits.

The speakers further warned that if the newly proposed pay structure of the National Pay Commission is not implemented before the upcoming national parliamentary election, the ongoing protest programmes will continue.

All officers and employees of the bank expressed their solidarity with the movement.
