A.K. M. Khabir Uddin Chowdhury: Former General Manager of the bank A. K. M. Khabir Uddin Chowdhury has joined as the new director of Janata Bank PLC. At various stages of his illustrious career, he served as a branch manager, head of various important departments and divisions of the head office. He received certificates of appreciation and cash awards at various times for achieving desired business targets in deposit collection, recovery of defaulted loans and foreign trade. He participated in various trainings, workshops and seminars held in the country and abroad.
A.K. M. Khabir Uddin Chowdhury graduated from the Department of Economics of Dhaka University in 1970 and completed his postgraduate degree in 1971. He was born in 1949 in a respectable Muslim family of Ruhitar Par village in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur.
Abdul Awal Sarkar: Abdul Awal Sarkar, who joined as a director of Janata Bank PLC., is a former executive director of Bangladesh Bank. He served as the director of the research department of Bangladesh Bank and the executive editor of the journal published by Bangladesh Bank. He has acquired special expertise in Islamic economics, banking and finance, Takaful Islamic insurance, monetary policy, Sukuk insurance and management, among other subjects. He participated in various trainings, workshops and seminars held in different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Korea, and the Philippines.
Abdul Awal Sarkar graduated from the Department of Economics of Rajshahi University in 1981 and obtained a master’s degree in 1983. Later, in 1998, he obtained an MSc in International Banking with distinction from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He was born in 1960 in a respectable Muslim family of Talukharudas village in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain: The newly appointed Director of Janata Bank PLC. Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain is a former Joint Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh. He joined the service as an officer of the 8th batch of the Administration Cadre in 1989. He has held important positions in various ministries and departments including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, National Consumer Rights Protection and Director of Bangladesh Computer Council, Project Director of Computer and Language Training.
He has also served as a National Consultant in various international organizations such as WHO, WB, USAID, Population Council, RTM and many other institutions. He has participated in various training, workshops and seminars held in the United States, India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, India, Saudi Arabia, China, United Kingdom, Mongolia and Thailand.
Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain obtained his PhD in Economics from Victoria University of the United States in 2005 and his MSc in Development Economics and Planning from University College London, United Kingdom in 2004. He obtained his MBA degree in HRM in 2003. He graduated from the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka in 1984 and his postgraduate degree in 1985. He has been a part-time professor at many universities like Dhaka University, North South University, Daffodil University, etc. and at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Institute of Cost and Management Accounts for almost 30 years and also imparted training at almost all the renowned training institutes of the country. Dr. Shahadat is a prolific writer of articles in many international journals at home and abroad. He has written many books and is associated with many social welfare organizations. He was born in 1963 in a respectable Muslim family of Gandamara village, Haimchar upazila, Chandpur.
